Ms. Ramirez teaches Freshmen English and Academic Language at Pioneer High School. This is her first year at Pioneer High School, having taught the last 5 years at San Jose High School. Ms. Ramirez earned her Bachelor in Arts degree from UCLA as a Communications Studies Major and Political Science Minor. She received her single subject teaching credential in English and a Masters in Urban Education and Administration from Loyola Marymount University.

Ms.Luu teaches Government (seniors) and U.S. History (juniors) at Pioneer. It’s her first year here at Pioneer and she is loving the great community and welcoming staff members. She has lived in San Jose her whole life and doesn’t plan on moving, if she can help it!  She went to San Jose State to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and a minor in Anthropology. After working as an administrative assistant in the wholesale industry for three years, she went back to SJSU to receive her teaching credential in social science. She realized that education and teaching is her passion and she is really looks forward to working with her students! In her free time, she enjoys ballroom dancing, reading, and board games with her friends and family.​

Scott Krijnen

Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Scott Krijnen was raised in an environment of music,
conducting and education. It is with great joy that he gets to continue to grow in these
areas everyday in his career and personal life. A recipient of a Master’s Degree in Cello
Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he is a frequent performer
as a chamber musician, with concerts throughout the Bay Area, as well as Europe,
Taiwan and Korea, and as an orchestral player, including as a member of the Silicon
Valley Symphony and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. Scott has appeared as a
soloist with the Spokane Symphony, the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, Silicon Valley
Symphony, the Winchester Orchestra, the Silicon Valley Philharmonic and the Coeur
d’Alene Symphony. As a conductor, he is sought after throughout the Bay Area, currently
leading the Cambrian Symphony, appearing as a recurring guest conductor with the Palo
Alto Chamber Orchestra, in his 5th year as Orchestra Director of the “Summer in the City”
festival at San Jose State University and his 5th
year as Musical Director of San Jose
Dance Theater. As an educator, Scott currently teaches over 550 students through 9
orchestras at Castillero and Redwood Middle Schools, winning teacher of the year
recognition in 2011. In 2016, Scott was recognized as the Richard Levin Orchestra
Director of the Year for California and received the Comcast Sports Net Bay Area
All-Star Teacher Award bringing $20,000 to Castillero. In January, Scott was presented
the CMEA Bay Section Outstanding Educator Award for 2017. Mr. Krijnen has
conducted at Saratoga High School, led sectionals at SJSU, and has coached and
presented with Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra for the last 14 years. Most recently, he has
been asked to present at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the University of
Texas and San Jose State University as well as conducted the Central Coast Honor
Orchestra and adjudicated CMEA festivals in Fresno. Scott is happily married to his wife
of 13 years, Aryn, and is the father of two beautiful children who get to grow up in the
same wonderful world of music as their father.
