Welcome to the 2008-2009 School Year!
The school year is fast approaching and we need everyone to update their calendars with some important dates:
Freshmen: August 20-21, Wednesday/Thursday
8:30-11:30 Summer Bridges II for all freshmen
*Bring all necessary paperwork on THURSDAY, as outlined in your summer packet
Parents of Freshmen: August 20, Wednesday
Pioneer's Administrators will be available in the gym both at 8:30am and 12:30pm for an informal question and answer session.
Seniors: August 19, Tuesday
8:30-11:30 Senior (only) Schedule pick up in the PAC
*Bring all necessary paperwork as outlined in your summer packet
Juniors: August 20, Wednesday
8:30-11:30 Junior (only) Schedule pick up in the PAC
*Bring all necessary paperwork as outlined in your summer packet
Sophomores: August 20, Wednesday
12:30-3:30 Sophomore (only) Schedule pick up in the PAC
*Bring all necessary paperwork as outlined in your summer packet
AUGUST 26, TUESDAY: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
7:27 A.M. School begins
Pioneer High School is a closed campus.
Students are to remain on campus until dismissal at 2:24 P.M.
Enjoy the last days of summer and I hope you arrive on August 26th well rested and looking forward to a fantastic year at Pioneer High School!

Spirit week is next week! Plan to dress up and show your spirit! The spirit days are…
Monday: Crayola Day…dress up as your favorite color crayon.
Tuesday: Teacher’s Pet Day…dress up as your favorite animal.
Wednesday: Uniform Day…wear your favorite uniform. Remember the school dress code!
Thursday: I Pledge Allegiance Day…dress as the American flag in remembrance of those
who died September 11th.
Friday: Class Colors Day…dress in your class color.
The Foreign Language Challenge exams will be given after school on September 11th in room R2. For information, or to sign up, see any foreign language teacher or Ms. Thomas in room 106, or sign up in Student Services.
CSF applications are now available. Download yours from Mr. Bernhardt’s website or pick one up from the Career Center. Applications are due in the Career Center by Friday, September 26th.
Don't miss the female version of The Odd Couple in the Pioneer PAC September 4th, 5th and 6th at 7:30PM. This is a production of the glue factory to benefit Pioneer and Castillero drama. Tickets are just $5.00 at the door. Don't miss the Odd Couple this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 in the PAC at Pioneer.
Need community service hours? Then come sign up for a car wash this Saturday to help benefit Ovarian Cancer. All proceeds will go to the HERA Foundation for ovarian cancer. To sign up, go to room R5 or talk with Mrs. Ritter.
Clubs
The first art club and National Art Honor Society meeting will be held Thursday, September 11th at lunch in room 152. Any interested students are welcome.
The first meeting of Clean Streams Clean Bay will occur on Wednesday, September 10th during lunch in Mr. Zaccheo’s room, rm. 301. If you are interested in being part of this group, or you have questions, please attend this meeting. Please spread the word about this meeting.
Attention all Mock Trial Team members: Please come to our first team meeting TODAY, September 5th, at 2:30PM in room 106. We look forward to starting the season!
Would your club like to participate in Club Rush September 18th? If so, be sure to complete the Club Charter form. Forms are available in the Student Services Center, and MUST be submitted for all new and returning clubs.
Sports
Attention freshmen girls…If you are interested in being a part of the PHS freshman volleyball team, please see Mrs. Ritter in R5 ASAP.
